The Balboa Theater is one of the five remaining independently owned and operated movie theaters left in San Francisco. It's in the Richmond District which for some is a trek but in all honesty it is a lovely trip to make if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Every year they host their version of Oscar Night. It consists of a live broadcast on the big screen of the Oscars. If you are into watching, it's a fun way to do it.
